5 sad things

July 31, 2010

1) I really love and cling on to dying trades, and one of these dying trades I love is tutu. yeap, tutu from the old man at clementi. the same man who, as a young man, used to sell tutu outside acs primary to my dad as a boy. the best in singapore. so yes. I recently found out that the old man had passed away. the thing I dreaded most every time I used to buy tutu from him. goodness knows, eating tutu will never be the same again, and I’ll never get to see his skilful, fast hands at work again. and what’s more, he looked a little like my grandfather. I’m gonna miss him so much. I’m sure all his faithful tutu fans will too.

my favourite tutu uncle @ vivo city, 2008

people here ought to support these old people more. what they have is unique and precious, and it’s kinda like the only remaining key to our real past seeing as to how the government has destroyed most of old town singapore. (that’s why if for e.g. you ever have to fix a shoe or so, bring it to the roadside cobblers and not the fancy commercialised shops!!) singapore is fast becoming a country with no living historical monuments- once the older generation passes, that’s it.

2) was chilling at marina square’s starbucks this evening with my rents (both are now in singapore btw) when I, to my utmost horror realised how POOR my eyesight had become. I’m indeed saddened cus even though I’ve realised it’s gotten worse (and I know the reason why), it’s not like I can really control it anymore. unlike school days… just don’t study haha. but yeah. there goes my eyesight.. and together with it, my dream of being appointed first woman cadet pilot of singapore airlines. SIGH.

3) baby hammies due to move out this weekend. gonna miss them, and paddle, and mango, and… haven’t decided who else yet. I CAN’T!! I love them all. choosing who stays and who goes is like choosing who to send to the gallows. NOT that I’m saying bren won’t take good care of my darlings, but I’ll miss not seeing them everyday.

4) hockey has begun to suck more than ever. and it’s only because it’s not ice hockey. everythign would just be so much better if the rink just magically turned to ice. the game would be infintely more fun. the rules of inline are plain confusing. and somewhat annoying.

5) it’s sad that I waste away every weekend feeling sad. no doubt I look forward to the weekend all week long, but once it rolls around everything goes wrong. and then it’s over. and then it goes wrong again. and so on.

oh well. to make my weekend less sad, I’ll be staying off my lappie so that my pitiful eyes aren’t subject to any further harmful screen time. byee

ps. oh yeah, foo power: very nice, like the name :) bff: start leaving love notes so I know you’re alive

the winning goal

June 11, 2010

my fav guys!

I keep watching the replay of kane’s cup winning goal. it’s anti-climactic but amusing. and I love how confused everyone looked. after rewatching it countless times, I think patrick sharp was the only other one other than kane who knew that it’d gone in. and that scene of kane celebrating and the line of confused hawks chasing him is just so, so hilarious.

what a goal. what a game.

and at last, since the hawks have won, I can admit that the flyers did good. they had an amazing season with amazing comebacks every time. as much as I disliked pronger when against the hawks, I do think he has great presence on ice. and kudos to danny briere for an amazing post-season score too.

what a ride. the hawks will win again next year. but a big part of my life will be missing for now.

time to tune in to the world cup. I miss africa.

GO GERMANY!!!!!!

BLACKHAWS, THE STANLEY CUP CHAMPS!!!!

June 10, 2010

I’m waiting to watch the replay of Game 6!! 20 more minutes!

so I succumbed to temptation and secretly kept myself updated with the game while at work today. had to keep refreshing the page every few minutes… imagine the anticipation with which I waited while the page and the latest game update loaded. and the horror when I saw that 3rd flyers goal, and the game having to roll into OT.

BUT!!! thanks to Patrick Kane!!!!! WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. so now I know. and as I sat quietly at my desk, booking in articles, I secretly wanted to cry tears of joy. but I couldn’t. and neither could I stand up and scream madly. so tragic. so I simply sat there, and in my mind I celebrated with the rest of the hawks fans on the other side of the world. all of whom were probably screaming and shouting wildly, shooting champagne while the hawks themselves drank champagne outta the stanley cup.

nevertheless, it was an amazing day. for me. for the hawks. for all their fans. for chicago.

now I await the action to unfold on screen. I shall pretend that I’m watching it live.

YEAH HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE YOU GUYS!

day ICHI!

June 7, 2010

first day of work was an infomation overload. but no sweat, I’m coollll. I love the whole work-life balance thing they’ve got going.

on to other very exciting news… I was completely disciplined and stayed off mobile web, and the internet until now! that’s because I waited ever so patiently for the replay of this morning’s game (which I missed live, cus I had to go to work). and my sweeeeeet patience paid off. HAWKS GOT THEIR REVENGE ON THE FLYERS HAAAAAAAAAAA 3 GOAL DEFICIT :)

it was as good as watching the game live. so I’m not gonna fret about not being able to watch the next, and possibly last game live. just gotta stay away from any potential news updates sources. only downside to it is that I know I am reacting and celebrating on my own and not with the hundreds of thousands of fans watching it live.. 12 hours earlier.

OH WELL. AHHHHHHHHHH I’m so excited and happy. and yet I know I’ve gotta keep my mind focussed on everything going on at work and training. or else I’ll be screwed.

imho toews is the best offensive player even if he hasn’t been scoring many assists nor any goals lately. I’m really hoping he can score big the next game so that danny briere doesn’t beat him to the prize! also, the more I watch, the more I love kane! his stick handling is UBER AMAZING. and he keeps his (quick) feet moving nonstop. and gosh help me, I like marian hossa too even though he played for the red wings (boo) last year. well he’s now crossed over from the dark side so I guess its okay. HAHA

HAIYARRRR I LVOE ALL OF THEMMMMM.NIEMI SEABROOKVERSTEEEEEG AND I SHAN’T LIST THE WHOLE ROSTER SO WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO

GO HAWKS. WIN IT!

crazy post. I’m running a high fever. a high hockey fever.

edit: addressed to lil friend- about the hamster post! hahaa. and youk now what?? one of my young hammies DID get impregnated by mango and gave birth just 3 days after lolly did. but by the time I saw them the babies were dead. a real pathetic sight. as if they were just trampled over and left there (not even eaten by paddle). and yes, lolly ate up her babies too. so no hammy babies left. :(

today in point form .

June 3, 2010

- last night I had a terrifying dream that I was late for my first day of work. omg.

- the hawks lost game 3. needless to say, I was annoyed and not much less disgusted with that last OT goal.

- the hawks losing today’s game put me in a really BLAH mood for the day because… unless the hawks lose the next 2 games, I’ll miss the final winning game. can I start work just a week later please?

- went ice skating. the only ice rink in Singapore has really bad ice. my poor skates.

- dad coming home tonite. yippee! I can eat prata for breakfast with him soon.

- my poor little Lolly gave birth again yesterday. 2 tiny weeny babies… I fear they might not last long cus they look really weak. Lolly will probably eat them up soon. Mango is the horniest #$%@$ ever. I hope he doesn’t impregnate Push and Paddle too.

- just 3 more days of freedom.

- looking forward to game 4.

game 4

May 24, 2010

I don’t wanna turn this blog into a hockey blog but yeah. I’m up in the middle of the night watching game 4 live. for a moment hawks were down 2-nothing and the toews line lost a rating but now… we’re back in the game tied 2-2! :) still waiting for t-o-e-w-s to score his 26th point though!

I love it that nbc shows snippets of downtown chicago. like of the bean millenium park water tower and everything. it lets me relive times when I actually walked those places. very awesome. anyway.. really wish I could be at the united center like, right now. lol but being up alone at home and probably the only zombie in the neighbourhood screaming (haha) at 5 in the morning is quite satisfyingtoo.

oh by the way, I’m taking some notes from niemi tonite. I played goalie for the first time ever on sat for nova. it was mad difficult to move. so kudos to all the goalies everrr… anyway they need a goalies and I might just step up to the challenge cus anyway I play forward for the pyros already. hehe

hungryyyyyyyy. and midnite hunger reminds me of college days. what fond memories!

befrienders

May 19, 2010

today was my last day at macpherson’s befrienders. I felt really sad cus imma miss the kids so much. I really love the children in my class (P3 &4). it takes time to form that bond and its sad that I’m just gonna disappear like that.

and the reason for my being unable to be there next term…? I got a new job. yesh. wow.

I also thought about those few girls I helped 4 years ago, how they are 16 now. time flies! alas, I too, am 4 years older than I was then.

Iam so gonna miss being jobless and staying home on the couch to watch hockey.

game 1 versus sharks. win. game 2, win. excellenttttt.

hockey, baseball, everything I love

May 5, 2010

believe it or not I’m currently watching big ten baseball on tv. Illinois vs northwestern at.. ILLINOIS home ground! sigh. just 1 year ago I was sitting in those very bleachers that are now on tv and thousands of miles away. it seems so surreal now

I see the ugly south quad bell tower lol.

OH MAN I MISS ILLINOIS! THE ARC! SHERMAN HALL! THE ICE ARENA! GREEN ST! SUMMER UBC SOFTBALL!

well college days are long ever. I should just face it. but ooh man, seeing illinois on tv at illinois just ya know, connects me with the place despite the physical distance.

by the way, I am able to watch this on tv because I did, eventually, sign up for the hockey channel (ASN here). so I get bigten ball games, mlb, nhl, nba (the only thing I don’t really watch). and yes, it was specially done so that I could watch the stanley cup playoffs hee hee

anyway. GO ILLINI!!!!!!!!!! :)

goodbyes

November 15, 2009

imma fly to melb tmr and on to tassie on tues! moving out early tomorrow morning 7am!

yesterday I cleaned up my apt which was long overdue. the carpet is now blue instead of blue with white and rainbow coloured polka dots and the kitchen floor is sparkly white instead of black. very niceee. too bad I dont get to enjoy this clean living quarters more :(

what was fun about cleaning up was that I practised taking hockey shots with the kitchen broomstick by sweeping away water. how fun. wheeee I get to see my sticks, ice skates, and new inline skates in under a week!

this is the end of yet another chapter of my ageing life. fare ye well sydney
