yay LPO!

September 29, 2009

hello opera house! I’m finally gonna experience your acoustics!290920092509

I received my ticket in the mail today yeahhhh it was expensive for bad seats but it’s the lpo so yeah. I’m excited! :)

come to think of it… I think that’s one reason why my credit card bill this month hit $800 oh my holy sainted aunt.. dunno how I’m gonna pay it off. the project I’m doing for my friend now will only pay me $200

anyway did I mention that I bought a ukulele a couple of weeks ago? it’s going pretty well. and then I bought a flute. haha. got it last wednesday and been practising blowing quite a bit… really makes you feel whoozy when blowing is so TRICKY. but! I can now play any random song if it’s in c scale! err. within one octave I mean. because the fingerings are the same for THREE octaves only difference is how you blow. can play random stuff songs like what a friend we have in Jesus, amazing grace, my heart goes on (lol) yada yada and some simple pieces. I really hope this flute thing will sustain my interest long enough for me to play it decently in my retirement.

pumpkin soup + carb overload

September 27, 2009

I freaking ate 4 slices of bread because the niceee fresh bread I just bought was so soft and delicious… if I hadn’t told myself how fat I already was I would probably have finished up 1 out of 2 loaves that I bought. Yes and I ate at least 10 cubes of cheese, a number of lamingtons, chocolate chip cookies, and timtams, and several slices of fruit cake after church today.

I am so filled to the brim with carbs now I’ll probably doze off writing my paper. One failed all-nighter coming right up yo.

save our earth!

September 25, 2009

I recently saw an ad by Emily Blunt telling people to boil just enough water for your cup of tea. and it really struck me… how true! why the heck was I boiling a whole kettle full each time only to use 8oz and wait for the rest to cool off? my gosh how much electricity and earth’s resources I’ve been wasting! so now I really do only boil just enough for my cup of tea! ha.

tea time!

tea time!

ps. those are the little chocolate tea cakes I recently baked hehe

orange coloured sky

September 23, 2009

“I was walking along minding my business, when out of an orange colored sky, flash, bam, alakazam,…”

sydney’s experiencing a dust storm. looks like the winds brought it in from the central and south overnight. woke up this morning to see beams of orange light streaming into my room through the blinds. and when I looked out, behold I saw an ORANGE coloured sky. GO ILLINI! (did we beat the buckeyes?)

Dust turns Syd red – smh.com.au

to think that earlier this year I just studied about dust storms and sandstorms in geog103. who would have thought that I should eventually experience a dust storm in the CITY.

anyways am in boring history class now gotta run

the storm has arrived

September 22, 2009

the sydney morning herald said to expect gale force winds tonight and tomorrow plus a storm – making its way up from adelaide. and it is here indeed. it’s at times like these when I enjoy being in my room feeling all nice and snug. and guilty.. for I can only pray for the homeless that they find some shelter.

it sucks that I’ll have to fight the 100km/h wind and rain on my way to class tomorrow. it’s NOT the first time this has happened to me. I got blown over once in my first year!! but I guess… now that I’m fatter my feet will probably stay on the ground. and thank God for my gorgeous rain boots woohoo

woke up at 530am today and saw that the place was covered in thick mist, and possibly fog. felt so magical. woww

28 days

September 16, 2009

ha nope, 28 days is not a count down to anything. not at the moment at least… it’s a movie :) I just received my dvd in the mail and its a show I’ve been looking for for a really long time! it’s hard to get hold of. I think it’s one of sandra bullock’s best shows- or at least what I thought when I watched it years ago. we shall see! I know I won’t be disappointed lol

the envelope in which my dvd arrived had the ad for 500 days of summer on the back. yeah! it opens tomorrow. I wanna watch it. and julie and julia which should be opening some time next month. it’s based on a book I picked up in borders. suddenly I feel all movie crazy after watching 2 movies in melbourne. I must lead a deprived life or something…

anyway. as you can tell, I decided to trudge home IN THE STUPID RAIN shortly after writing the last entry. so I skipped all my other classes today because the break in between was just too long for me to hang around in school. stupi.. no I’m not gonna say it.

GOOD MORNING

September 16, 2009

its freaking 10am in the morning and I’m in the psych lab. and WHY? BECAUSE MY FRIGGING 10AM CLASS WAS CANCELLED. no prior notice whatsoever! how irresponsible of whatshername! she could have e-mailed us right? instead she chose to walk into class this morning telling us she was going on strike. what in the fishing heavens??? for goodness’ sake just e-mail us the night before and save us all sleep deprived students an early morning and trip to school. GOSH. now should I go home or should I hang around in school for another 4 friggin hours before my next class? or will that class also be cancelled?

stupid aussie uni strike day. aughh.

the final lap

September 13, 2009

i’m back from my VERY good break in melb and am now ready to face the final lap of my uni career. which includes writing and finishing one paper by today. i would have given a deep sigh but now i’m just really thankful to God for the opportunity i had to go to melbourne and it was really a very good break, seeing a new place, spending endless hours reading in the bookshops, chilling at cafes outdoors, and most happily, catching up with old friends. so no sighs today… just a deep breath and firm resolution to get everything done, and to survive the next and last few weeks of school, ever.

but holy crap, its 30DEGREES outside today and its a beautiful day. i so want to go out. maybe i’ll go for a short run round the oval later today.

:)
